Dr. Tim Moonen

Dr. Tim Moonen is Managing Director at The Business of Cities, an urban intelligence firm based in London working with more than 50 cities and institutions worldwide each year. He leads benchmarking, advisory and research projects evaluating how cities perform and their long-term capacity to manage growth, working for more than a decade with organizations such as the Brookings Institution, OECD, World Bank, JLL and the Urban Land Institute. Tim has participated in multiple senior advisory boards informing the long-term planning of city regions (New York Region, Moscow, Oslo, Sydney), and guiding the urban market strategies of global businesses and investors. In North America Tim has worked with senior leaders in Atlanta, Columbus, Louisville, New York, Philadelphia and San Diego. On the potential of innovation locations and place leadership, Tim has advised districts and alliances in cities such as Brisbane, London, Manchester, Rotterdam, Singapore and Tel Aviv. Tim also teaches executive-level education for international companies and universities, holds degrees from the University of Bristol and the University of Cambridge, is Honorary Lecturer at the City Leadership Laboratory, UCL, and is the co-author of the book World Cities and Nation States alongside Greg Clark CBE.
